Hi, I’m Cindy, the After40Mom.
Well that is what I am. I gave birth to my first child when I was 19. I was so young and mostly on my own, I often felt I was in survival mode. There was a lot of basic life skills I didn’t have back then, one of which was how to cook. Because I lacked basic kitchen skills we lived on processed and fast food. I became very over weight and unhealthy. Luckily my child picked up healthy habits from other family members.
I became pregnant with my second child when I was 38. Wow! What a difference 20 years make! Not only was my second pregnancy and birth vastly different than the first, but I was amazed at all the information that was available to me. Seriously when I got pregnant the first time, there was no internet, at least not in the way we know it today.
Very quickly, I became pregnant again. This was on purpose. Due to our ages we didn’t want to wait too long to have another baby. I was 40 when I gave birth to my 3rd baby. There is 11.5 months difference between my second and third.
Getting Older = Not Caring As Much
One of the great things about getting older is not caring as much what others think. I feel free to live the life I want and spend my time the way I want it. I don’t feel pressured to run around being busy all the time. I spend as much time with my family as possible and doing the things I enjoy.
