Everything but the Bagel Recipe + Flax

I’ve been seeing the Trader Joes new seasoning blend, Everything but the Bagel, pop up all over social media.  Unfortunately for me, the closes Trader Joes is 60 miles away!  Yikes!  Instead of driving 2 hours, I decided to just mix some up at home. One thing I love about this recipe is all the amazing nutrients combined together. Slow Cooker Chicken Thighs (Whole30)

To be honest, I usually don’t have the energy to come up with a new meal everyday.  Some days are so hectic, if I don’t have leftovers in the fridge, then I’ll turn to something fast which usually means junky.  This means having healthy leftovers in the fridge vital. Sometimes I’ll make a big pot of something on the stove, but my slow cooker is my go-to friend for these, bigger than normal, meals.  I’ve been trying to get into the habit of chopping all the veggies for the upcoming week on Sundays.  It is really a huge timesaver as the week wears on. Finding Compliant Broth Part of Whole30…

    My Whole30 Experience & Results

March 31 was my official last day of Whole30!  I wanted to get my thoughts down before too much time passed. First off, I would like to say that I LOVED Whole 30!   Hands down this is the best thing I have ever done for myself.  Physically I feel fantastic!  Mentally I feel clearheaded and empowered.  Emotionally, well I’m still figuring out the emotional side of everything I’ve learned. I’m going to warn you now this post may be very long.  So much has happened on Whole 30 and I want to share it all, the good, the bad, and the ugly. How I learned about Whole30 I’ve been…

    Rosemary Roast Beef

Being on Whole30 has forced me to spend more time in the kitchen.  I have been cooking a lot more.  As a result I have become more confident in the kitchen and experimenting with new recipes.  For most cooking a roast is basic but I’ve only done a slow cooker pot roast. Today I decided to try an oven roast with a spice rub.  I used a 3.5 lbs top round roast from Robinson Hill Beef for this recipe. We loved this roast as a simple dinner or sliced thin for sandwiches.     Update:  4/25/2017 – I’m so sorry! Something happened with my blog and all my recipes disappeared.  I’m…

    Meatballs

Most meatball recipes call for 1 lbs of ground meat.  I think that is cute.  When I make meat balls, I will make the shit out of those. They are labor intensive.  If I’m going to spend that much time making something, it better last a long time.  I will freeze them almost immediately and just take out what we plan to eat.  In our house 4 lbs of meatballs will last about a month, maybe longer if we forget we have some.  Sometimes it is the only thing the toddler will eat. The recipe calls for onion which is a pretty basic meatball ingredient, but I have been known…

    Body After Baby: Week 2

This was originally published on my old blog www.cyntheology.com Hello Mood Swings!  If you’ve ever had a baby or lived with someone who just had a baby, you are familiar with the crazy hormone surges in the weeks after.  The first week or so I was on the hormone high.  I had boundless energy, was very happy, and just felt like I could go, go, go! Well this week I’ve had the hormone crash.  It is very predictable and usually happens around the second week and it is not fun.  How do I know?  I’ve been snippy and weepy, sometimes at the same time.  While the hormone changes are normal,…

    Shedding the Baby Weight

WHEW!  Now that I am done being pregnant, I’ve turned my sights shedding the baby weight and getting back into running shape! Even though I did exercise the majority of my last pregnancy, I was not able to maintain my previous fitness level. Setting a Goal Back in 2010, participated in my first Ragnar Relay run. It was a 200 mile-ish run from Cumberland, MD to Washington, D.C..  It was crazy, challenging, and more fun than I could have ever imagined! Fast forward 6 years and all the Road Sharks have gone in different directions.  There have been moves, marriages, and babies oh my!  I’ve seen some of them over the years…

    Body After Baby: Week 1

This was originally published on my old blog www.cyntheology.com I can’t believe it has already been one week since we welcomed our little boy!  So far it has been a completely different experience when we brought home our little girl.   We learned A LOT from those first few weeks with her.  Mostly we figured out how to establish a good routine that actually works for us.  So far so good! I’m still recovering from childbirth and adjusting to having two babies under 1 year old at home.  So far my physical recovery has been great!  I have to keep reminding myself to not push myself too hard.  I’m not…
